The Golden Rocket Pony boys and Larsby just came back from a road trip to the largest music store in Europe. Thomann, who’s web shop is well-known to most musicians, is situated in a small town in southern Germany called Treppendorf.
Delicious German food, days of driving in bad weather and lots and lots of music gear… I.e. the perfect winter vacation!

We started to suspect that there is a problem with the power in the rehearsal room, since sometimes both amps and the PA start sounding funny.
So yesterday we started measuring the voltage of the only power outlet we have. Everything sounded great, at least at the start of the rehearsal. All at a good 230 volts. Towards the end, the voltage was down to around 225 at times, but no major sound problems.
We’ll see if things dip under 220 the next time it sounds like the tone is sucked out of the amps. If so, we’ll have to get the land lord to fix the power – or the golden rocket pony will be looking for a new place to hang out.

I have now played my new drum set for about one and a half months, and I have realised that I am hopelessly in love with this wonderful, golden Pearl Masters kit.
The maple shells sound fantastic and answer to the lightest touch. The bass drum sounds like thunder and all the drums have amazing rebounce, making them incredibly fun to play.
The drum hardware is manufactured to a perfect fit with many options. It has allowed me to adjust the kit completely to my own playing style and range of motion. Besides, it is so attractive that not even Christian can keep his short arms away from it (Mogge, I’m sorry!).

It has been a while since we posted something to the blog. You might be wondering:
- What is going on?
- Has the band broken up and moved on to more wholesome hobbies?
- Did Jonas leave us after a tragic accident where he maxed out the volume of the bass rig and the flesh was peeled clean from his bones by the 15-inch paper/aluminium speaker?
Don’t worry. We are still around:
- M.B. has been on vacation and is thinking about writing a blog entry about his new golden drum kit. It is not going very well at all.
- Big J. had a couple of weeks off and soaked up inspiration from the country side. He is now perfecting his bass shredding and singing skills.
- Christian has been stuck in a gear conundrum between guitar amplifiers. For several weeks he did nothing but obsessing and ranting about different kinds of tube head and cabinet combinations. He is OK now though.
In August we are going back into the studio and playing two gigs in Flyinge and Åkarp. The record is coming along nicely and we are starting to write some new material. It looks like this autumn will bring some true Golden Rocket Pony goodness!

New times…
Since they didn’t have any drum seats in the music store that Mårten’s dad took him to back in the day, they ended up buying a piano stool. It has served him well for 30 years or so. It will now retire to a life behind the practice drum kit in the Allégatan basement.
Godspeed weird, rickety, square stool!

I don’t even want to know how much money I have spent searching for “that sound” over the last year or so….

And that is only the guitar stuff…. Thank goodness I now have something that works well enough. What to do with all the leftover cash?
